My day in Stitch Me Up

I started to love embroidery when I was a small girl and since then I have embroidered now and then.
Until ten years ago you could find small shops with embroidery as their specialty in the towns, but nowadays they are really hard to find. My home town is the third town in Sweden, but I think there is not a single embroidery shop left. I haven´t found any, maybe some yarn shop that has a small area with embroidery and embroidery yarns. It is so sad, as it is so comforting to sit down and stitch and contemplate. Time and thoughts fly away and you so relaxed. I think that embroidering is one of the things modern working women should try in order to relax.

But first of all I like to thank lovely  Madame Samm to make up this adventure with embroidery blog hop and Jane for being a wonderful cheer leader for us all.
And what should we have done with out the pattern designers Debbie Martinez from Busy as Can Be Cyndi from Bee Tree Designs and Madam Samm, who all have contributed with fantastic patterns.

There were so many patterns to choose among , so it was a difficult task. It was not so difficult to figure out what to sew, as I am a bag lady, LOL.
I have made several purses for my sewing notions, but a sewing girl couln´t get enough of these things, don´t you think.
I had decided to make an old fashioned sewing purse with four out side pockets covered with the cute flower patterns made by Debbie.
And to make it more old fashioned I thought that  some ribbons wouldn´t hurt at all. But as I like bright and bold colors I choose a strong orange, not old fashioned at all. I love the contrasts.

And why not present my purse with my dear Henrietta, a lovely  lady from 1952. And isn´t she cute together with the sewing purse and the needle case. By the way Henrietta came to me five years ago and she was a find, only 50 dollars, bought on the Swedish Ebay, Tradera. I gave her the name after my mother´s grandmother. She is so neat to use and I love the humming sound from her, when she is working.
I had first taken some pictures in side my apartment, but as they didn´t turned out good, we take a tour out in the front of the house to take better shots . It is cold outside, but clear weather and the snow has begun to melt. I hope it will soon be Spring.

I have also personalized one of the pockets with my name and year.

I made a simple but cute needle case to be a companion to the purse.

I hope that you have enjoyed looking at my projects, and maybe I should make a pattern of the purse with some embroideries and embellishments of my own. I have never used Craftsy to publish my patterns, but it could be a good idea to try.
It is sadly the last day of this wonderful blog hop session, but there is time to hurry over to find out what the other creative ladies have been up to.
Here are my companions for today

As it soon is Easter I will cheer you up with this picture from a small town in the south of Sweden. I got it yesterday from a friend to my Iphone .
I wonder what a giant egg has  hidden this chicken. LOL

Have a great Easter

I kamp med Kung Bore / Fighting with snow

I was  yesterday participating in a Shop Hop to some quiltshops i Denmark with bus. When I signed for the tour I had a wonderful Spring tour in mind. But it is winter in Sweden and Denmark and what a winter it is. This is a life of a quilter, not even a snow storm could prevent a shop hopper for quilting fabric to fight with the snowy winds in order ot get some more fabric.

Symässan i Malmö/ Sewing expo in Malmö Sweden

Our Swedish Quilt Guild  exhibition in the Sewing Expo in Malmö is now over. It has been so fun but I must say that I am tired today after three intensive days with lots of interested people in our quilts and our guild. Our kits to bracelets were popular among our visitors and we also got some more members to our guild.
The most popular of our exposed quilts was Ingrid´s Trip Around the World in grey and red.
There were several people who wanted this quilt in their own sofa.

Armband till symässan/ Fabric bracelets for the textile festival

In the weekend our Swedish Quilt Guild is going to have booth in a local Textile Festival. We are going to have a workshop in making fabric bracelets.
They are so fun to make and decorative too.

Craftsy BOM 2012 klar / Craftsy BOM 2012 done

I have now finished my quilt according to two classes on Craftsy , the first one BOM 2012 which is free and the quilting of the BOM in a class where Leah Day is the teacher, and this class is worth every penny. I have loved to sew according to both classes and I have learned so much, especially FMQ.

It´s all about me - Finally my day

It´s all about me - Finally my day

I will first of all give a  thank you  to madame Samm, the lovely cheer leader Marlene and the pattern designer Amy Bradley for making all this come through .

My name is Britt-Inger. I live in the south of Sweden and have been retired in one year now. Oh what time flies.

After   I have received the pattern from Amy Bradley I got many thoughts of how to personalize the pattern to  be a woman   like me. I had  the pattern  enlarged with 50 %  to get a size I wanted.

I had to changed  the figure  and choose a hair style  with curls, as I have been lucky to have natural curls in my hair.

As I seldom use sun glasses, I decided to have my normal glasses and let me look down.

My favorite colors are purple and green, mostly lime green, so that´s why I have a lime green dress and with a background in purple color.

My favorite fabric is designed Kaffe Fasset and so is the fabric  that I have choosen to use in my small quilt.

I love birds and I have two pet birds, two  male cockatiels, named Knut and Sixten. The grey is Knut, he is the old one, 16 years and Sixten is five years old. And it is not hard to guess who is the boss in the cage.

Sixten and Knut
And here is the picture of me, with curly hair and Sixten and Knut on my shoulders. I love birds as you could see on my picture.
And as I love brooches I have also made me  a flower brooch.
Me and my birds
And here is a picture of me IR

Now when you have seen me, don´t forget to visit all the wonderful women today
Hill Valley Quilter Thats me

I wish you a nice day  and hope to see you soon again at my blog

Craftsy BOM 2012

I have finished all the quilting including the sashings of the 20 blocks. Here are nine of the blocks, where you could see the sashings.

Here is the heap with quilted blocks. Next step is to sew them together with black strips. A job when I am dog and parrot sitting for my brothers animals.
