Symässan/ Sewing show in Malmö

Rikstäcket var med på Symässan i Malmö med en monter, där vi visade vår jubiléumskvilt och en del andra kviltar, som jag, Karin och Ingrid sytt.
På torsdagen ägnade vi några timmar  till att hänga kviltar och ordna och dekorera vår monter.

Rikstäcket participated at the local sewing show during the weekend. Karin and I were busy some hours during Thursday to hang quilts and made some other decorations in the booth.

Vi hade  coaster kits som workshops, men det var inte någon som ville stanna och sy där utan man köpte för att sy hemma. Tyvärr gick allt åt första dagen, så sedan fick man köpa mönster och sy av egna tyger. Till försäljning hade vi Jubileumsboken, tidningar  och adressböcker. Glädjande nog lyckades vi också värva många nya medlemmar till Rikstäcket.

We sold coaster kits , Rikstäcket´s  book with patterns to the blue and yellow quilt and our magazine.
We also managed to get some more members to our guild.

Här nedan ses vår monter från olika vinklar. Jag hade med mig min Henrietta, min Featherweight, som jag sydde lite på till mångas förtjusning.

Below are some pictures from our booth. I sew some cross stitch blocks on my Featherweight during the show time. I could say that many people were interested of my little darling. 

Det var väldigt trevligt att representera Rikstäcket på symässan och vår monter fick stor uppskattning av de besökande.

It was so fun to participate during the weekend and to meet so many people interested in our  projects.

Korsstygnsblock / Cross Stitch Block

Jag har under de senaste veckorna roat mig med att sy korsstygn. Ja inte broderat utan sytt.
Det var Pile o Fabric som hade en sybeskrivning för en månad sedan, som jag kände mig tvungen att prova på.

I have been occupied during the last two weeks embroidering cross stitches, not with yarns, with fabric. I have found a tutorial at Pile o Fabric, that I have to test.

Först sydde jag ett rävhuvud, som bara blev så tufft tyckte jag.
I have sewn a head of a fox, and I must say it is so fun and cool.

Jag kviltade korsstygnsblocken, så de såg ut som om de var broderade.

I have quilted the cross stitch blocks to look like they were embroidered with yarn. The fox quilt is FMQ. 
Kvilten är 50 x 50 cm

The measurement of the quilt is 20x20 ". 

Sedan skar jag till lite större bakgrundstyger och fick på det sätt ett helt annat uttryck. Till korsstygnen använde jag rester av Kaffe Fasset tyger. Detta blev en duk  60x60 cm. Duken är kviltad med mönstersömmar.

I then played with larger back ground squares and scraps of Kaffe Fasset fabrics and then I got quite another expression. I think this will be a lovely table cloth. The table cloth is quilted with embroidery stitches.

Ruffles for me / Volanger

Ruffles, oh no, not for me. I am not in ruffles at all.

 But it is very hard to resist madame Samm´s challenges, and after thinking one hour or two, LOL, I jumped right in the adventure with ruffles. Several years ago I have made a lime green  purse with ruffles, which I have used a lot when it was new. I have bought the pattern, when I was at a quilt retreat in Lousiana 2006  and found the pattern right away.

Först av allt vill jag säga, att jag är verkligen inte så förtjust i volanger, men när Madame Samm kommer med sina utmaningar har jag väldigt svårt att låta bli att tänja på kreativiteten.
Så efter några dagars funderingar, kom jag på att jag för några år sedan sydde en väldigt trevlig volangväska och en sådan skulle passa väldigt väl in i utmaningen. Beskrivningen finns fortfarande till försäljning här.

I wanted to make the purse more firm and with other kind of handles and also to put in a zipper closure. I have used purple linen for the body of the purse  and pink linen for the lining. And as ruffles are very hungry for fabric a lot of different Kaffe Fasset fabric for the ruffles.

Väskan har jag sytt av lila linne med cerise linnefoder och även satt i ett blixtlås för att stänga den.
Det går åt mycket tyg till volangerna, så det tog ett litet hack i mitt Kaffe Fasset förråd.

Don´t you think it is sew cute out there in the spring. And besides lime green, purple is my second favorit color. It looks like a skirt but it is really a purse. And so many ruffles for a person that is not a ruffles lady. LOL

The purse was very fun to make and could be a real conversations piece.

Jag tog lite utomhusbilder och visst märks det att våren är på väg. Väskan är väldigt mycket volanger, men jättesöt och verkligen ovanlig i sin design. Den var dessutom mycket rolig att sy.

Rosemary en liten björn/ Rosemary a cute bear

Jag har börjat prenumerera på en ny engelsk kvilttidning, som heter Love Patchwork and Quilting. Den kommer ut dels som papperstidning och även digitalt. Jag har den som digital prenumeration på min Ipad. Vill man ha den papperstidning finns den att köpa på Pressbyrån, tidigare Presstop, dels på större Pressbyråbutiker och sedan kan man beställa den på internet.
Jag har bara läst två nummer, men jag kommer nog att fortsätta ett tag till. Det passar mig med en digital version, så kan jag skriva ut det jag vill sy efter eller kolla beskrivningen på min padda.

I have started to subscribe on the digital version of Love Patchwork and Quilting, a new magazine from UK. I think that it is a very creative and modern quilt magazine. 

Och här kommer Rosemary in. Jag blev så förtjust i en liten björn och kände med detsamma att en sådan ville jag också sy. Det var en mycket bra beskrivning, lätt att följa och resultatet blev jättebra.

I found a pattern to make a patchwork bear, and I fell in love in this cute bear and started soon to sew. The pattern was very instructive and easy to follow and my bear came out so good.

Får jag presentera Rosemary och snart kommer hon att få en liten bror.

Visst är hon en liten sötnos.

May I introduce to you Rosemary, my cute little bear. I think that she soon will have a brother bear.

Rosemary har också en egen liten påse, som hon kan bäras i.

Rosemary could rest and be carried in a purse, and of course the fabric is full of roses.

Denna vecka skall jag ägna tiden åt att sy ett volangprojekt, för det är snart  dags för en ny bloghop hos Madame Samm, Sew We Quilt, som skall handla om volanger. Jag har precis börjat på mitt projekt, och även om jag inte är mycket för volanger, så har jag hittat något, som jag tycker skall bli kul att sy och att använda.

Puss och Kram/ Hugs and Kisses

It´s my day of this week full of lovely hearts and lots of hugs and kisses.

I have sewn some things before  with PP. You maybe remember the  blog hop with  PP bowls nearly  two years ago, yes time flies. And since then I have made some more things following this technique.
But to be honest it is not my cup of tea.

I am a person that has problem to resist challenges and here I am again participating in a blog hop with PP.

Valentine is not a big thing in Sweden, even if the flower shops have good inflow.
I have chosen two of Soma´s patterns, Hugs and kisses and made a bright table cloth.
Most of the days in February have been gray and rainy, but today the skye has brighten up a bit and I hurried out to take some out door pictures of my table cloth.

When I first have sewn the four blocks together with some sashings, I thought that this was not a nice thing and threw it away for some days, as I didn´t know how to finish it up.

I have some discussions with a quilting friend and then the idea with a four patch border came up.
And then I was in a happy mood again. The wonderful heart fabric together with the pink, just made the table cloth.

It was funny again to complete the table cloth with some FMQ, as I have begun to love it.

I have shown the table cloth for a good friend, who can´t sew at all, and this should be a belated birthday present, as she loved it.

The size of the table cloth is 28 " square.

Once again thanks lovely Samm and Suma that have made the designs and challenged me to try them.

She who sews has sew fun My day

It is a wonderful design that  Quilting Treasures has made and distributed to our quilt shops all over the quilting world. And a appropriate collection for all of us that love to sew.

It was hard to decide what to make from this collection, I will make a quilt, but didn´t have the time, even if I have bought enough with fabric, so i picked out some useful handy things for me in my sewing room and for going to classes.

I have some months ago bought a pattern to make a big divided basket from fabric. The pattern is made by Noodle Head and it was now time to use the pattern.

It is a rather big basket, and I will use it to store FQ bundles or some fabric that I am working with for the moment. The basket has an outer pocket to use.

I then had to work with one of the panel fabric. I decided to make a sewing folder with a see through pocket inside and four other pockets made from fabric. The pattern comes from the same designer as the divided basket. You could find the pattern here  at Noodle Head.

Of all the wonderful pictures I have chosen these darling ladies for the outside of my sewing folder.
They are so lovely.

The inside of the folder has a big plastic pocket with zipper closure and four fabric pockets with velcro closure under the pocket flaps.

 I have also included two small pincushions for some needle and pin, the tiny red rectangles on the button fabric.

You have now seen my projects and there will be more from this lovely fabric later on, but for now that´s all from me.
