Virtual Cookie Exchange

Welcome to my blog and a taste of Swedish Ginger cookies.

In Sweden we love ginger cookies in all form of shapes and there will be lots of them in every Swedish home in Christmas. Sometime they will be consumed together with Glögg a Swedish form of a spicy warm vine. But of course contains the Swedish Fika ginger cookies in Christmas time.

Swedish strong coffee and ginger cookies is never wrong.

We have also Christmas songs about our love for our ginger cookies

At the Swedish Christmas table we have a lot of ham and other food made from the pig meat.

I have not made the ginger cookies , I have a good bakery nearby, but I will share a recipe that I have found on Youtube

For about nearly 60 years ago I bought a clay tomte (Santa) painted it and gave it to my father at Christmas and now it is mine. It is a sentimental feeling to have it on my table now. As you could see he is smoking and my father was smoking then. I don't think there will be any new smoking Santas nowadays.

We have lot of angels to decorate in Christmas and I thought a sweet little bag with an angel could contain a Christmas present. The bag is made of a candy pack and the angel is embroidered after a sketch that I have made.

My favorite block

Today is my day to present my favorite block.

I have always loved the Churn Dash Block , why it wasn't difficult to choose what to share.

The block is so versatile and fun to play with, especially with precut charms.

I haven't sewn big quilts but some table cloths and table runnes.

I have made a small table cloth and a runner from a charm pack. I think the projects turned out so lovely and I have used them a lot on my tables.

For the latest issue of the journal from the Swedish Quilt Guild I also played with a charm pack to make a modern Christmas cloth. The basic tone of the fabric pack isn't so much Christmas but I love the romantic look of the fabric.

Together with green Moda Grunge it turned out very lovely and just modern for me.

Some years ago I played with green and black batik fabric and it turned out to churn dash too. I think it was some of disappearing block from the beginning.

Alla flickor älskar diamanter All girls love diamonds

När Carol bjöd in till denna blog hop som skall handla om diamanter, kunde jag inte motstå.
Men sedan började jag fundera, diamanter, har jag någon idé om vad jag kan sy. Jag kanske inte har sytt diamanter, men jag har placerat half-square triangels i form av en diamant. Då tänker jag på en duk som jag gjorde mönster på en duk till Rikstäcket. Jag kallade duken Inte äkta diamanter.

When I was invited by Carol to this blog hop To be a diamond, I couldn't resist to participate. Then, I didn't think I have ever sewn diamond shaped blocks. But for the winter issue of the magazine for the Swedish Guild Rikstäcket, I made a pattern where the half squares form diamonds.
It was an easy way to use a charm pack with several solid colours.

Visst är det diamanter?
Don't you think they are diamonds?

Även den lilla i mitten är väl en diamant?
Even the small one in the middle is a diamond, don't you think?

Jag hade en charmpack med svagt mönstrade färgglada tygbitar som jag ville leka med tillsammans med ett ljusbrunt bottentyg. Denna gång skulle det bli en löpare.
I took a charmpack in my stash with small pattern and of course with bold colours which I will play with together with a light brown fabric.

Det blev ett litet annorlunda utseende med det ljusbruna bottentyget, men de klara färgerna gifte sig bra ihop med det ljusbruna tyget.
I think the out coming was good.

Nu har jag visat mina diamanter. Det är spännande att se vad alla andra har hittat på i denna bloghop.

Moden japansk rispåse Modern japaner Rice Pouch

För några veckor sedan var jag på en utställning på Hemslöjden i Landskrona och blev inspirerad att sy den japanska tekniken boro.
För en drygt en vecka sedan såg jag en bild på en japansk rispåse som Jo Avery från My Bear Paw i från Storbritannien hade sytt där Jo hade använt boro tekniken.
Mönstret till rispåsen hade hon köpt av Karen Stevens på Etsy HÄR
Jag köpte mönstret för några dagar sedan och plockade fram några restbitar, gjorde en fågelapplikation på en bit linnetyg och hade så kul med konstruktionen.

I was inspired of the Japanese technique Boro Boro from an exhibition in Landskrona where a Japanese fabric artist Takao showed how he mended his clothes with small fabric pieces mended in Boro And a week ago I saw on Instagram a picture from Jo Avery, where she has used some of the Boro technique on a modern Japanese rice pouch. I have bought the pattern for the pouch HERE

Det blev en stor påse, där man kan få plats med mycket garn eller annat bra att ha. Jag kommer snart att sy en mindre, för det var hur kul som helst.

This pouch is quite big, but I will soon start a smaller one, because I surely enjoyed the process.

Show your wings

Här är jag med mina vingar, förlåt fåglar, detta är Sixten och Knut. Kvilten sydde jag för några år sedan och nu har Knut flugit vidare över regnbågsbron.

Det var länge sedan jag skrev något på min blog och jag känner mig inte helt bekväm. Tack vare Carol som har en blog hop med temat Show Your Wing är jag på gång igen.

It is two years since I have blogged and I am feeling as a new born. Thanks to Carol I am here again.

Temat får mig att tänka på fåglar, änglar, fjärilar, humlor och bin. Det finns mycket man kan associera med, men också att visa något som man är bra på. Men jag har valt att hålla mig till fåglar och fjärilar.

I have thought of birds and butterflies when thinking of the theme and I will show you a brand new runner and some old things with birds and butterflies.

Det blev en löpare med en återanvänd fågel på en bakgrund sydd som försvinnande nioruta.

I have chosen to sew a runner in disappearing nine patch and then embellish it with two fairytales birds. I have drawn and sewn one original bird more than ten years ago on a tote but I found it a good idea to use my pattern again.
